Nice rendition of the 10 of swords from the Tarot, in panel 2.
Thanks! Pretty sure you’re the only one who noticed! 🙂
Long time ago, I was a Wiccan High Priestess, and did a LOT of Tarot readings. Later I grew out of Wicca, and have since become kind of an undefined spiritualist, much along the lines of what you have described about your beliefs. What does this have to do with the panel in question? Not much, except that Wicca got me interested in being an artist in the first place. ( I’m educating myself for CG rendering, partly so I can do a Sci-Fi graphic novel I have had in mind for years. As if the internet needs another one, 🙄 😆
I think the internet is exactly one sci-fi graphic novel short. 🙂
Thanks! (genuinely). The one thing I rarely see from any webcomic artists anymore is encouragement. This seems to go hand in hand of course with the whole “life is pointless, hopeless and stupid so I’m not gonna write about anything but anti-heros” philosophy so many people have. Which is why I have been enjoying your archives so much. Even if the characters are idiots some of them are still trying to do the right thing because it’s right. That, and it’s gamer-geeky fun!
Well I certainly haven’t made any money on it, but it’s been a bunch of fun and it’s been pretty good experience too. If a graphic novel is what you WANT to do, I don’t see any point in NOT doing it.
“If a graphic novel is what you WANT to do, I don’t see any point in NOT doing it.” Good philosophy. For a while there I was worrying (always a bad idea) about originality and market saturation. Then I woke up and realized that I can probably do a lot better than many of the CG render based comics / graphic novels. I also realized that there was no need to worry about originality. Space Opera is Space Opera. The real trick is in the twists and individual elements the author puts into the story formula. Just like customizing a character from a given class. Like Paladins, for instance. Besides, there are only 18 possible plotlines, anyway, according to my creative writing teacher in college. Not to be confused with grant writing. Also a creative endeavor.
Do I ever expect to make money off the tale I want to tell?
No. But I want to tell it just the same.
Thanks for the words of encouragement. I will drop you a link when I finally start posting. Should be sometime next century at this rate…. 😆
